These elegant brocade pads are the perfect complement to our singing bowls and help increase the resonance of the bowls.

The use of this root as a rattle/sound producer in tribal animistic rituals or Vedic Shamanism equals for spiritual and surpasses for animistic (body), the position that dry lotus pods hold. The seeds are ground up after the ceremony and the resin-like waxy mixture is smoked with tobacco or lotus petals in a traditional mix called Hokah or Gudakhu by the Shaman. The pipe is only passed to participants who request a smoke, and is never given or never taken except when seeking visionary guidance.

Traditionally, this rare herb was also used as a dream catcher and vivid dream inducer. The user would shake the rattle 3 times over their head and then their feet in clockwise circles, putting the herb under their pillow after that to experience a truly deep sleep. This ritual is always accompanied by a half glass of wine that had rattle root soaked in it for three weeks. This reportedly causes visions and helps facilitate vivid dreaming. The Todas actually grind up the seed and pulp and make an alcohol specifically for this purpose.

Don't be fooled by the small size of this powerful singing bowl.  Yes, it is intended mostly as a gift, to remind one of the beautiful tone and energy that singing bowls can provide, but it also produces a surprisingly clear tone.  This is not a handcrafted bowl as our larger ones are, but the gift box, mallet, and singing bowl cushion are.

These mini-sized singing bowls also make great travel companions.  They pack up easily in any size travel bag, and provide a pleasing tone with a longer-than expected sustain.  Of course, as with all of our products from Tibet, these are fair-traded, and profits go to help Free Tibet.

We hand select this bowls for tone; so be very careful with which singing bowl you choose to purchase...there can be a VAST difference in quality with singing bowls. We feel that we excel in choosing singing bowl for both their tone and their craftsmanship, partly becuase several of the people on our staff use these very bowls in their meditation practice, and these are no exception.  All bowls are hand-beaten into shape for a tone that is noticably clearer and lasts longer than any bowl made by any machine.   They are also a lovely reminder of the energy that these bowls provide, while not taking up much space in one's environment.

This is a large 12" singing bowl for the clearest and richest tone available, with the longest decay time of any other singing bowl we offer.  There are larger singing bowls, but after they get larger than 12" in diameter, the cost goes up considerably, and the gain in both tone and sustain of the sound does not increase enough to justify a larger bowl.
